Sound of Thunder

I awoke on a Sunday morning
sun was shining through the shades
got outta bed, threw some clothes on went to watch the lake

time moves slowly on a Sunday morning
time moves slow when you're in pain
I watched the day turn into evening and night and went to bed again

and I awoke to the sound of thunder
I awoke to the sound of rain
wide awake and my heart was pounding
I wondered if I'd ever see you again

I awoke to the sound of thunder
I awoke to the sound of rain
and all the drops collected at the bottom
I realized I'd never see you again

and I hung my head. I hung my head.

I found the note you wrote the other morning
the sun was shining through the shades
got outta bed, threw some clothes on, went to start my day

cause I got work to do and worlds to conquer
and I got bills I have to pay
got no time to mope around, not sure I loved you anyway

but I awoke to the sound of thunder
I awoke to the sound of rain
the stream was flooded and the dam burst open
I wondered if I'd ever see you again

I awoke to the sound of thunder
I awoke to the sound of rain
and suddenly no shelter from the darkness
I knew that I would never see you again

and I hung my head. I hung my head.
